How To - Macro Night & DVD - 21st May
A chance to learn more about the dark art of Macro photography, through the use of an instructional dvd - seeing and photographing the world close up. A/V Demonstration with Trevor Bottomley - 28th May
Club Treasurer TB shares tips on compiling audio visual presentations in programmes such as ProShow Gold...no slouch with scenic shots either, expect some great photography, too.
(Bring entries for 2nd Clubman Competition - Open)

Spring Bank Holiday - 4th June - No Meeting

Eyes Right
The church at Hooton Pagnell got lots of attention during Monday night's Club outing - here we see what Bob Jones made of it - thanks to Bob for taking time out to send in the work. Click here for a Hooton Pagnell gallery, submitted by other members in attendance.

LATEST NEWS.....

Free Prints Are Here!
Steve Wood now has the free prints back in his possession from ProAm...please collect them from him at the club, this coming monday - you may like to bring a folder of some sort to get them home in.

Hooton Pagnell
Several members have so far sent in images from the Club outing to Hooton Pagnell - view them here....and please, if you were there too, send in some stuff for adding to the page!

YPU Success For WCC

Many congratulations to Mike Hart, John Boyd, David Kershaw, David Carr, Les Forrester, John Bickerdike & Sally Sallett on their successes in the YPU Annual Exhibition. Full details can be read here - thanks to DK for chronicling the details for us.

Bob Jones' Stuff On Flickr
Bob's decided to step out of the shadows & introduce us to his work. Get the link permanently via the "Galleries" page, but click straight to it here. Thanks Bob.

3 Clubs Victory

We won the 3 Clubs Battle yet again this week, with an over all score of 305 points to Normanton's 298 and Pontefract's 279.
Print scores were Wakefield 169, Pontefract 160 and Normanton 157. Les Forrester won best print with "Fairy Pool On The Isle Of Skye".
Digital scores were Normanton 141, Wakefield 136 and Pontefract 119.
The adjacent pictures show Vera Jones receiving the competition trophy, and Les Forrester accepting the trophy for best print. Les was the only person on the night to score two 20's for his works.

May Online Competition
As subject-setter and webmaster I felt it prudent to ask Steve Wood to take in images this month, presenting them stripped of their author’s names at the closing date to me, for my untrained eye to judge anonymously. DO NOT EMAIL THEM TO ME – SEND THEM TO STEVE WOOD (email address on "Club Info" page)…your new subject is “MONOCHROME” – good luck everyone.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE

Please ensure you do not park on the service road into the complex housing the Brookhouse Club (adjacent to the bowling green) - a clamping system is in operation and your car WILL BE CLAMPED. This is not the work of the Club, but the private houses set beyond the bowling green.

Bickerdike Bestows Time-Lord Title!
John Bickerdike has made his decision in judging the online comp - and [totally anonymously! - DH] has come up with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

John writes: "
An interesting selection of images; from the conventional and innovative to the out-and-out outrageous.  It is difficult to convey the passage of time in a single image, (although we should remember that a photograph does have an associated shutter speed!) but there were some very good attempts. I thought that the standard of photography was excellent, even the 'Kershaw-esque' image had a good deal of merit. But, for me, the winner was 'Slipping Through My Fingers…', a simple yet attention grabbing image about the passage of time. In second place I thought that 'After Eight' was a well thought out and executed image with the right balance of focus/out of focus.  There was plenty of competition for third place, a nice touch of humour in 'What time is Our Train?', the ghoulish 'Killing Time' and the fiendishly complicated 'Time's Up (Would the Brontes approve?)  In the end I settled for 'Time Warp', with a simple image which really didn't need a title. My congratulations to all the competitors for all their efforts". John Bickerdike ARPS DPAGB. Click here to see all 17 entries.
1st "Slipping Through My Fingers..." - David Hall, 2nd "After Eight" - Yvonne Warriner, 3rd "Time Warp" - Trevor Bottomley

Wakefield Hospice Calendar, 2013

Peter Wells met with officials from the Hospice's fundraising tam, who were thrilled with the photos we submitted - they're confident there's a cracking calendar's worth in there, and thank us for our efforts.

Art Walk - We're In!
We've taken the decision to display a range of mounted prints in the Chantry Chapel at the Wakefield Art Walk event held from 30th May - 2nd June. You'll be able to sell your work, so it may be a pocket-money-spinner, with 10% going to the Chantry...we'll need 50-60 prints - more details as & when they're finalised.

366 Days Of Wakefield Cathedral
The Cathedral's having it's 125th year anniversary (as a Cathedral) in 2013 & in the build-up to it they're inviting people to photograph aspects of it on every day of this year...you can get involved - click here for the relevant website & all details.

Gallery Pages
There's no pressure to submit any of your work for the club's site, but it's a good way to break the ice & air some of your stuff...go on, send me a few images and a bit of scribble about your photographic experiences!
