Annual Digital Image Results 25/11/1013
Tonight was decision time for the Annual Digital Image Competition. In this competition members submit their best images of the year for one of the top prizes of the club. It is always a tightly fought contest and over 50 members were present at Brookhouse Club to hear the judge John Smith give his thoughts on each image. There were over 50 images in the Open section and over 30 images in the Applied section so he had quite a task, especially as he considered that so many of those images were of a very high quality.
In the Open section the contest was so close that the top 3 marks covered 14 images!! Eventually John Smith had to pick out the winners and in 3rd Place was “Passion Flower” by Sally Sallett, 2nd Place went to “Camargue Horses” by John Gardner and just pipping everyone else for top spot was “Light and Shade” by Yvonne Warriner (at last a 1st for Yvonne!). In the Applied section things became even closer with John having even more difficulty in splitting the entries to find a winner. Again there were 14 in the top 3 marks and clearly John was impressed by all of them. However there had to be a winner and !st Place went to John Gardner’s wonderfully atmospheric “Flamingos at Sunset”, 2nd Place to Peter Wells’ “Church of the Spilled Blood” and 3rd Place to Bill Mahoney’s “Goliath Heron”. Well done to the winners and commiserations to everyone else, particularly those who were so close to the top spot.
