The first online competition of 2016 had “Shadows” as its subject. Given the time of year with the low sun you might expect a lot of outdoor shots with long shadows. Trouble is this is Wakefield Camera Club so you have to expect the unexpected. Some chose to stay indoors (was it the weather?) whilst others have trawled through images that look to be from summer. It doesn’t matter as it all makes for an interesting collection of images. The judge this month was Paul Wagstaff so he had the unenviable/delightful/critical task of selecting his top three images. Paul has deliberated long and hard and said it was a close run contest but eventually he has settled on the winners. Here are his words.
1st Place -Steel Stairs – I like the pastel colour of the blue and how the shadow fall onto the tank and get longer – well seen.
2nd Place – I love Playing Marbles – This was well thought of. Love the heart shape shadow in the middle of the page.
3rd Place – Autumn Sunlight – Love the golden autumn colours and the long shadows of the trees – well spotted.
So who had the magic touch this time. Well the winner with “Steel Stairs” was Peter Wells, second place went to yours truly Steve Wright with “I Love Playing Marbles” and third to Robert Bilton with “Autumn Sunlight”. Congratulations to them. So did you agree with Paul? Well you could be the winner next month so why not give it a shot. For those keen to get out and get images for February I can tell you that the theme is “Numbers”.
