Some Christmas Cheer with the Online Comp

The subject for the January online competition this year was “Christmas”. Maybe it was too much Christmas pudding or sherry, or maybe the excitement of other presents that kept some from entering but only 12 festive souls entered. Still there was a wide range of subjects with some interesting takes on the theme. Michelle Howell was the judge this time and has used her talents to pick out her favourites. Here are her choices and thoughts

Here’s my choices!
1st. The Dome, Edinburgh. – Love the symmetry, well exposed to get all the details through the windows. Just so christmassy! Would make a great xmas card.
2nd.Santa Secrets. – Lovely image, well composed, and embodies xmas! Again would make a good xmas card.
3rd.Santa, Please stop here. – Nice use of props, and the towel the reindeer is stood on looks like snow! Someone put a bit of effort into making this image! Again, would make a good xmas card!

Thanks Michelle.  As ever the gallery of all the entrants is below and you can make up your own mind.

So the 2018 online competition is well underway. The theme for February is “Silhouettes” so you can rummage through all those shots where you got your position and/or exposure wrong and ended up with a silhouette that you didn’t intend! Seriously the subject is wide open (people, trees, buildings, etc) so give it a go.
