Something Old for October
Mark, the winner in September has completed the judging of the October On-line competition.
1st Place:- Vintage Bike Outside A Teashop by Angela Crutchley-Rhodes. Only a new member in the club and the standard of photography is really high and made the job really difficult. But this image ticked all the right boxes for me, I really liked how all the components came together to make the overall image. The processing in sympathetic and adds something extra.
2nd Place:- Draftsman’s Delight by Sally Sallett. A well put together and executed still life, the subjects work well together and the lighting has been taken into consideration and thought about, the background does not distract from the overall composition.
3rd Place:- Two And Six by Dan Jeffrey. On such as small subject it can be difficult to get front to back sharpness and control the highlights. The photographer has done an excellent job and the background works well.
Highly Commended:- Prague Orloj by Trevor Bottomley. The choice of subject matter can be difficult to get all the angles going in the right direction. Dealing with converging verticals and getting a square image has been achieved, the lighting which looks to be quite harsh has been well controlled
Commended:- In Need Of Attention by Nigel Hazell. A well seen and captured image, by putting the main subject off centre makes room for the shadows on the left and adds impact. It is one of those images that the more one looks at it the more of the details one sees.
There were many great images entered but congratulations to Angel who will be our judge for the November competition, the subject is Night and entries must be submitted using PhotoEntry by midnight on the 20th November.
